0373 Currant Clearwing Synanthedon tipuliformis

Recorded in Ennis Co. Clare in 2010. Previous record was 1984. Very few records of this species of which larval plants are Black and Red Currants. Clearwing species are elusive and the scattering of records suggests that it is widespread. Perhaps with the use of specially designed phermone lures, this and many other Clearwing species may prove to be widespread
